Tinted Windows Stop In Westport Leads To Arrest Of Two For Active Warrants

A pair of 22-year-olds from Bridgeport with active arrest warrants were taken into police custody after being stopped driving a car with deeply tinted windows and an expired registration in Westport.

Officers from the Westport Police Department on patrol at approximately 1 a.m. on Feb. 17 after spotting the car speeding on Post Road East with the illegal window tint and registration.

During the subsequent traffic stop, it was determined that one passenger, Jeffrey Garcia had an outstanding warrant from the Fairfield Police Department, while another passenger, Frankie Figueroa had warrants for his arrest in Newtown and the Mashantucket Tribal Police.

Both were arrested at the scene. Garcia was taken into custody and charged with failure to pay or plead regarding his previous charge. He was released on $150 bond and is due back in Bridgeport Court on Tuesday to answer the charges against him.

Figueroa was charged with the same offense for the warrant originating with the Mashantucket Tribal Police and released on $500 bond. He was also charged with failure to plead or pay for the warrant out of Newtown, and was released on $150 bond for that charge. Figueroa is due in New London Court on Monday and Danbury Court on Tuesday to answer the charges.
